My name is Amy Walker and I'm so excited to get to know you and your child! Thank you for visiting my class website and for working with me this year to ensure your child has a smooth transition and successful school year. First grade is an incredible year for academic growth! I can't wait to see all the progress your child makes this school year.
I'm thrilled to begin my fifteenth year of teaching! I graduated from the University of Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. In 2003, I earned my Master's degree in Special Education. I hold certifications in EC- 6th grade, special education early childhood - 12th grade, and an ESL certification.
My husband and I relocated to Texas in the summer of 2016 from Orlando, FL. We have two sweet fur babies that are very spoiled. Ringo, our thirteen-year-old miniature schnauzer, is full of pep and still thinks he's a puppy! Cody, our thirteen-year-old rescue cat, enjoys laying in the sun and playing with his toy mouse. When I'm not working, my husband and I enjoy bike riding and kayaking. I also love to bake.
I can't wait to begin the new school year and am honored to be working with you and your child!

Due to the fact that we were only in school for two days last week, we did not have a Spelling test on Friday. We will push all Spelling units back one week. (please correct in red take home folder) We will study short “o” words with blends/diagraphs this coming week and have our test as usual on Friday.
Students will be given opportunities during the school day to shop, make wish lists, and purchase books. If you would like to shop with your child then we welcome you to come before school at 8:10 (or 7:30 on Thursday), after school at 4:00, or on Tuesday evening during Camp S’More Literacy Night. If coming after school, please be sure to send a note that your child will be a car rider that day.
