My name is Amy Walker and I'm so excited to get to know you and your child! Thank you for visiting my class website and for working with me this year to ensure your child has a smooth transition and successful school year.  First grade is an incredible year for academic growth!  I can't wait to see all the progress your child makes this school year.

I'm thrilled to begin my fifteenth year of teaching!  I graduated from the University of Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. In 2003, I earned my Master's degree in Special Education. I hold certifications in EC- 6th grade, special education early childhood - 12th grade, and an ESL certification.

My husband and I relocated to Texas in the summer of 2016 from Orlando, FL.  We have two sweet fur babies that are very spoiled.  Ringo, our thirteen-year-old miniature schnauzer, is full of pep and still thinks he's a puppy!  Cody, our thirteen-year-old rescue cat, enjoys laying in the sun and playing with his toy mouse.  When I'm not working, my husband and I enjoy bike riding and kayaking.  I also love to bake.

I can't wait to begin the new school year and am honored to be working with you and your child!

Please have your student wear a T-shirt, athletic shoes, sunscreen or a hat and bring a water bottle with their name on it. Parents are welcome to join us and cheer on their child. Parents may check in at the back gate to the playground or if it rains then you will check in at the front doors and activities will take place inside.
Parents may check out their child and receive a ticket from their teacher after Field Day is over. Students will not need to bring backpacks or folders on Thursday. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I look forward to seeing you on Thursday!
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

It's "Read Across America Week" and we will be reading books written by Dr. Seuss all week.
We will also celebrate the life of Dr. Seuss on Friday, March 2nd. Students can come to school dressed as their favorite Dr. Seuss character!
Can't wait to see each child's creativity!

Each classroom will have a Valentine’s Party on February 14th in the afternoon. The schedule for each grade level is below. Students will be allowed to bring valentines for their classmates on the day of the party. If you choose to send valentines for the exchange, please make sure to send one for each student in your child’s homeroom class. The exchange will only take place in the homeroom class, so please do not send any for students in other classrooms.

We ask that you keep your item simple and similar for each student. We need to be cautious of allergies and provide only store-bought treats as part of the exchange. Since all students in the class will receive your valentine, please do not write the name of each class member on the valentine, just have your child sign their name before sending them to school. This will greatly speed up the exchange process. Also, we will not be able to deliver balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, etc. to your child during the day.

Due to the festivities and preparations needed for the day, we will not be able to accommodate lunch visitors on the 14th. However, parents are invited to attend the Valentine’s Party in the afternoon.

Parents will sign in and out with their child’s homeroom teacher and receive a ticket if you are taking your child home with you at that time.
