About Mrs. May

My name is Amanda May and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year at Wildwood Elementary. First grade is such an important year and sets the foundation of a child’s academic development. It is amazing how much your child will grow and learn this year!

This is my sixth year teaching; fifth teaching first grade. I live in Hockley with my husband Ryan, our three-year-old son Brady, our 4 month old son Wyatt, and our two dogs, Remi and Ace. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Texas A&M University and am certified to teach PK through 6th grade, English as a Second Language, and Gifted and Talented students.

When I’m not working I love spending time with my family whether it be at the lake, the movies, or just relaxing at home. I am a HUGE Houston Texans football fan and love cheering on our hometown boys!

As a teacher, I enjoy getting to know my students, building meaningful relationships with them, and instilling in them a love of learning at an early age.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I look forward to working together to make this a great school year!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Parents,

I wanted to take some time to wish you all a restful and happy Thanksgiving break! I've enjoyed getting to know your sweet kiddos. Thank you for trusting my time with them and for being so welcoming. I will surely miss their smiling faces this coming week!
During social studies, we spent quite a bit of time discussing Thanksgiving then and now. While you prepare for your holiday, ask them about what Thanksgiving was like during the first Thanksgiving! We all learned some new things about what the Pilgrims and Native Americans ate and what they did to have fun!
Lastly, I wanted to thank everyone who come to our first annual Fall Writing Celebration! The kiddos were so excited to be able to share their writing with our guests! I was so thrilled about the amazing turn out! My wish is that you all soak up this week with your family and my plan is to do the same!
