About Mrs. Collins

Thank you so much for visiting our class website and for working with me to ensure that your child has a successful year in first grade.  I am very excited to be your child’s teacher!  First grade is an amazing year of academic growth for students.  I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we become partners in education. 

 I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. AXE 'EM JACKS!!! I am certified to teach grades PK through 8, have my ESL (English as a Second Language) certification, and am also GT certified.  I will be starting my 15th year of teaching and have experience in Kindergarten and 1st grade. I spent 10 years in Cypress Fairbanks ISD (Kinder and 1st) and then began teaching in Tomball ISD (1st) in 2014. GO WES WILDCATS! 
 I have been married for 17 years to my husband, Steve, and have two beautiful children... Katelyn (15) and Tyler (12). We also have two weenie dogs, Todd & Ruby. We live in the Tomball community and I love how everyone makes you feel like family! I know the 2018-2019 school year has amazing things in store for us...thank you in advance for allowing me to be such a huge part of your child's life...I can't wait to meet them!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Dr. Seuss!     

The week of February 25th we will be having a Seuss-tastic week! Each day we will be focusing on a different Dr.Seuss book. We will have different dress up days that revolve around the theme of that day.

Monday, February 25th- Oh the Places You’ll Go- Wear your college t-shirts!

Tuesday, February 26th- Green Eggs & Ham- Wear green!

Wednesday, February 27th- Wacky Wednesday- Wear your wackiest socks!

Thursday, February 28th- One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish – Wear red, white & blue

Friday, March 1st- Happy Birthday to You- Dress like your favorite Seuss character!

Dig out those cowboy boots, hats, and jeans and show us your best Texan outfit!
Please join us on Thursday, February 14th for our class party!
Have your child bring their decorated white bag and a valentine's day card for each student in our class prior to the party day.

To end our amazing week learning about different careers, we are encouraging all of our students to dress up as a career they would like to have when they grow up!
We are getting excited about the 100th day of school!
We will celebrate on Monday, February 4th.
We would love to have your child help celebrate by having them dress up like they are 100 years old OR decorate a shirt with 100 items. We have included some ideas to help you get started planning an outfit for your child.
Girls: Printed skirts, pearls, eyeglasses, sweater, wig or curled hairstyle, gray hair spray, knee high stockings, large purse, scarf, etc.

Boys: Button down shirt, flannel shirt, suspenders, tie, eyeglasses, drawn on mustache or beard, gray hair spray, etc.
Shirt: Stickers, buttons, tallies, hearts, etc.

Students who participate in the LLS Student Series demonstrate how important their contribution and efforts are in the advancement blood cancer cures. Across the US and Canada, millions of students like yourself raise funds in honor of local patients. Friends, family and neighbors can all contribute to the classroom and school totals! By participating in your school's Student Series program, you and your classmates will be making a huge difference in the lives of patients with blood cancers. You will be joining millions of students across the country who will raise funds to find cures and therapies for diseases like leukemia and lymphoma.

Yearbooks are being sold for a limited time at $25.  Don't wait, purchase yours today before the price increases!

First Grade Important Dates:

The Holiday Season is upon us and Wildwood has some fun optional themed dress up days coming up so we wanted to give parents some time to prepare if you would like your child to participate along with the staff.

December 6th: Dress as one of the 12 Days of Christmas

December 10th: Ugly Holiday Sweater Day

December 12th: Grinch Day- Dress Grinchy or as a Who

December 17th: Dress as a favorite Holiday Movie Character (Frosty, Rudolph, Elf, Santa, etc.)

December 20th: Holiday Party 1st grade: 10:00-10:45

December 21st: Polar Express Day- Wear Pajamas/Early Release at 12:50

Just a friendly reminder that on November 15th, First Grade will have our 1st Annual Fall Writing and Poetry Celebration! Please see the times below for your child's class celebration. Each class will have small refreshments to
enjoy at the celebration.

4th grade - Pasta & Spaghetti Sauce

Wednesday, October 31st is the 50th day of school!!!
Feel free to dress your child in 50's attire.  Please don't feel like you have to go out and buy anything.  Below are some easy ideas!
For girls:
poodle skirts (full skirts) button-up sweaters, bobby socks, capri pants, pony tails, ribbons in hair, etc.
For boys:
rolled up jeans, white t-shirts, leather jackets, slicked back hair, etc.
