About Mrs. Collins

Thank you so much for visiting our class website and for working with me to ensure that your child has a successful year in first grade.  I am very excited to be your child’s teacher!  First grade is an amazing year of academic growth for students.  I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we become partners in education.

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. AXE 'EM JACKS!!! I am certified to teach grades PK through 8 and have my ESL (English as a Second Language) certification, and am also GT certified.  I will be starting my 14th year of teaching and have experience in Kindergarten and 1st grade. I spent 10 years in Cypress Fairbanks ISD (Kinder and 1st) and then began teaching in Tomball ISD (1st) in 2014. GO WES WILDCATS!

I have been married for 16 years to my husband, Steve, and have two beautiful children...Katelyn - 14 and Tyler - 10. We also have two weenie dogs, Todd & Ruby. We live in the Tomball community and I love how everyone makes you feel like family! I know the 2017-2018 school year has amazing things in store for us...thank you in advance for allowing me to be such a huge part of your child's life...I can't wait to meet them!

We will celebrate "Go Texan Day" with a dress up day this Friday, February 23rd!
Join in the fun as we honor this Texas tradition.

Each classroom will have a Valentine’s Party on February 14th in the afternoon. The schedule for each grade level is below. Students will be allowed to bring valentines for their classmates on the day of the party. If you choose to send valentines for the exchange, please make sure to send one for each student in your child’s homeroom class. The exchange will only take place in the homeroom class, so please do not send any for students in other classrooms.

We ask that you keep your item simple and similar for each student. We need to be cautious of allergies and provide only store-bought treats as part of the exchange. Since all students in the class will receive your valentine, please do not write the name of each class member on the valentine, just have your child sign their name before sending them to school. This will greatly speed up the exchange process. Also, we will not be able to deliver balloons, flowers, stuffed animals, etc. to your child during the day.

Due to the festivities and preparations needed for the day, we will not be able to accommodate lunch visitors on the 14th. However, parents are invited to attend the Valentine’s Party in the afternoon.

Dear Families,

I want your child to be a successful reader—and for that, I need your help.

When children choose their own books to read for pleasure, they enjoy reading more and spend more time doing it. The more your child reads, the better they will do in school and in life.

Scholastic Book Clubs flyers are made for you and your child to shop for books your child will love to read. Each month, the flyers are filled with trusted, excellent quality, age-appropriate books chosen by Scholastic for prices as low as one dollar.

Plus you will be helping our class when you order: Scholastic matches each order you place with FREE BOOKS for our classroom to share.

Thank you for helping your child become a successful reader.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Collins
