Sight Words and Word Work:

We will be learning about vowel teams this weeK;  ee, ea, oo, ai, ou, oi, ay, oa, and au.  

We will review our sight words for this grading period.  Please practice not only reading, but writing the sight words at home.

Reading:

We will identify fact and opinion.

 

We will distinguish between fact and opinion.

 

We will identify characteristics of persuasive nonfiction texts.

Writing: 

We will write and answer a friendly letter.

We will write a letter to the author of Give Bees a Chance to detail if we were persuaded by the information in the text.

 

 Math: 

We will identify the features of a graph.

 

We will interpret the data of a picture graph.

 

We will interpret the data of a bar graph.

Science: 

We will begin a study of weather, seasons, and wind.

Social Studies:

Reading: 

We will identify the theme in fairy tales and fables.

We will continue to write about small moments. 

We will work to include past tense verbs in our small moment stories.

  Math: 

We will determine the order of any given numbers.

We will determine a number one more or one less than any given number.

We will generate numbers in different ways.

Science: 

We will continue our exploration of thermal energy.

Social Studies:

We will explore important Texas landmarks such as The Alamo, and the Texas State Capitol.

We will understand that we capitalize proper nouns.

Word Study:

We will learn the spelling rules for when to use a c or a k when spelling words.

Reading: 

We will identify the theme, plot, setting, and characters in a text.

We will retell a story by including only the important details in the beginning, middle, and end.

We will learn about open syllables.

 Writing: 

We will continue to write about small moments. 

We will utilize mentor texts to learn to include dialogue in our personal narratives.

  Math: 

We will represent numbers in both standard form and with base ten blocks.

We will determine the place value of a given digit.

We will write numbers in expanded form:  42= 40+2

Science: 

We will explore light energy.

Social Studies:

We will create a Texas flag, and learn about the Battle at San Jacinto.

We will utilize mentor texts to learn to write a lead using dialogue, character traits, and beginning a small moment with a question.

  Math: 

We will learn the parts of a clock.

We will tell time to the hour.

We will demonstrate our knowledge of measurement by selecting the best answer on our Measurement Unit Test on Friday.

 Science

We will explore sound energy.

Social Studies:
