Hello! My name is Kimi Bowman (Hernsberger)
and I am so excited to be your child's Art teacher this year!
I am very passionate about Art Education, and I am so excited to spread that knowledge and passion to the Wildwood students.
Art can be a way for students to express what they’re seeing in their every day lives, a way to express the visual stories they’re creating and imaging in their minds, or a way for them to express whatever they’re feeling. It is my job to foster that creative spirit and help students communicate those visual stories.
My goal as an art educator is to revive and enliven my students’ curiosity through the process of making. I guide students in exploration and discovery. I teach them problem solving and critical thinking skills, self-reflection, and visual literacy. I help them find connections to their work, that are significant and relevant to their own lives. I emphasize the process of their creating, while making sure my students have a clear technical understanding of the mediums learned in order to best prepare them with the tools to express their visions and ideas. I aid them in making connections to contemporary social events to that of the past and teach them about the power of art on society. My love and excitement for the subject, spreads to my students as I model a contagious passion for art appreciation.
