Welcome to First Grade! I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this year! First grade is an exciting year of academic development. You will be amazed, as I am each year, with how much your child will grow and learn in first grade.
I have been teaching for 16 years. I have taught first grade and second grade. What I love most about teaching first grade is watching the transition that children make into lifelong readers. It is incredibly rewarding to watch children grow in their skills and confidence. Every day in first grade in a new adventure and I am so blessed to be the tour guide!
I am originally from Michigan. I graduated from Western Michigan University in 1995 where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education, with minors in math and science. I moved to Texas that same year and started my teaching career in Fort Bend ISD. I stayed home for several years with my children when they were young. We moved to Frisco, Texas in 2007 and I have been teaching in Little Elm ISD ever since. Most recently I have worked at Prestwick STEM Academy in Little Elm ISD. We just moved to the Tomball area in July. I hold certificates in general education, life science, special education and ESL.
My husband Jay and I will celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this November. We are the proud parents of four great kids! Our oldest will be a freshman at the University of Houston. Our other three children will be starting in Tomball ISD! We also have two crazy dogs named Lewis and Clark. They keep our life interesting!
I look forward to working together to make this a successful school year.
