My name is Amy Walker and I'm so excited to get to know you and your child! Thank you for visiting my class website and for working with me this year to ensure your child has a smooth transition and successful school year.  First grade is an incredible year for academic growth!  I can't wait to see all the progress your child makes this school year.

I'm thrilled to begin my fifteenth year of teaching!  I graduated from the University of Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. In 2003, I earned my Master's degree in Special Education. I hold certifications in EC- 6th grade, special education early childhood - 12th grade, and an ESL certification.

My husband and I relocated to Texas in the summer of 2016 from Orlando, FL.  We have two sweet fur babies that are very spoiled.  Ringo, our thirteen-year-old miniature schnauzer, is full of pep and still thinks he's a puppy!  Cody, our thirteen-year-old rescue cat, enjoys laying in the sun and playing with his toy mouse.  When I'm not working, my husband and I enjoy bike riding and kayaking.  I also love to bake.

I can't wait to begin the new school year and am honored to be working with you and your child!

Wednesday Folders - Graded Work

Just wanted to let you know that any graded work that is done in class will be sent home in the Wednesday Folder.

Gradebook

Parents, this week I am slowly beginning to input some of your child's grades into the gradebook.
Over the summer, you all should have received a letter from the district that included a login and password to access the gradebook. If for any reason you did not receive this information or misplaced it, please contact our Registrar at mariesolorzano@tomballisd.net

Our First Grade Parent Orientation night has been moved to Thursday, September 21 from 5:15 to 6:30 pm. When you first arrive to the cafeteria, Mrs. Baker will share a few words with you, then from there you’ll be dismissed back to our classroom where I’ll share some important information about first grade expectations, discipline, reading level, grades and more.
Please mark your calendars and I hope to see you there!
