Welcome to First Grade! My name is Lara Davis and I am so excited to be your child's first grade teacher this year at Wildwood Elementary. First grade is such an important year and sets the foundation of a child’s academic development. It is amazing how much your child will grow and learn this year.
This is my seventh year teaching first grade and my third year teaching in Tomball ISD. I live in Tomball with my husband and our cute puppy dog, Mollie. I have a Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M University and I love my Aggies, whoop! I am certified to teach PK through 6th grade and am also certified to teach English as a Second Language and Gifted and Talented students.
When I'm not working I love to travel with my husband. We take a fun trip each summer and most recently have visited Europe. I also enjoy playing with my dog, Mollie, crafting, especially creating scrapbooks and painting so you might run into me at Hobby Lobby.
As a teacher, I love getting to know my students and inspiring in them a love of learning. I especially love teaching children to read and become life long readers! We will be reading some amazing books this year in first grade and learning to become excellent authors too!
If you ever have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me by email at LaraDavis@tomballisd.net
I look forward to working together to make this a great school year!

Math Practice

Good evening! In preparation for our test on Friday, we will be completing a Math test review in class tomorrow that will be coming home with your student. Continue to practice solving addition and subtraction word problems (answers are all 10 or less) for example "Mrs. Davis has 5 coins and she found some more, now she has 10 coins. How many did she find?"

Students can also access our math textbook Pearson online through our class website links page www.tinyurl.com/laradavis . Topics 1 and 2 assessments will provide practice for both addition and subtraction. Students will be able to use counters, a ten frame, a number line and a part, part, whole mat to solve. Please let me know if you have any questions.
