About Mrs. Collins

Thank you so much for visiting our class website and for working with me to ensure that your child has a successful year in first grade.  I am very excited to be your child’s teacher!  First grade is an amazing year of academic growth for students.  I look forward to getting to know you and your child as we become partners in education.

I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University. AXE 'EM JACKS!!! I am certified to teach grades PK through 8 and have my ESL (English as a Second Language) certification, and am also GT certified.  I will be starting my 14th year of teaching and have experience in Kindergarten and 1st grade. I spent 10 years in Cypress Fairbanks ISD (Kinder and 1st) and then began teaching in Tomball ISD (1st) in 2014. GO WES WILDCATS!

I have been married for 16 years to my husband, Steve, and have two beautiful children...Katelyn - 14 and Tyler - 10. We also have two weenie dogs, Todd & Ruby. Please make sure your child brings their book back to school in their backpack so they can check out a new book from the library!
Today I sent out an email inviting you to sign up for a Parent Teacher conference. Please sign up as soon as you can and hopefully one of the dates/times works for you. If not, please email me and we can work something out or have a phone conference.

Please send headphones to school with your child if you have not already done so. We will be going to the computer lab on Thursday for a Math assessment and next week for a Reading  We also have chromebooks in our classroom that the students can work on during station time. Please put the headphones in a ziploc bag labeled with their name.

Thank you so much!

Today was our first Library visit! Your child will be coming home with a new library book in their back pack this afternoon. I encouraged them to keep it in their back pack when they are not reading it so that it does not get lost or damaged. We will go to the library and check out a new book every Wednesday. As long as your child returns their book, they will be able to check out a new one each time.

Happy Reading!
Don't forget to send in your child's idea page by Friday! They are excited to add this important piece to their daily Writing folder!

Grade book

Parents, this week I am slowly beginning to input some of your child's grades into the gradebook.
Over the summer, you all should have received a letter from the district that included a login and password to access the grade book. If for any reason you did not receive this information or misplaced it, please contact our Registrar at mariesolorzano@tomballisd.net
