A little bit about me...I grew up in Baldwinsville, New York. Snow country! I attended Alfred University where I graduated with a teaching degree in 1986. I have been an elementary school teacher for 17 years.  I'm looking forward to a great year in 3rd grade. I truly enjoy teaching and I love seeing the growth each year in my students.

Social Studies Community Project

We are studying communities in social studies and we will be doing a project in class.  Students brought a letter and list home today.  They are being asked to explore their community and collect various items to learn about their community. Please return the items by October 9th.  We will complete the project in class using the items students bring in.  Just a few tips:  flyers come home in Wednesday folders each week, grocery stores have bakeries, and downtown Tomball has several historical places and there is a community children's library in Lonestar College in Tomball.   Happy Hunting!

Spelling Homework

It is so good to see all the boys and girls today and to be back at school. Students will bring home their spelling list in the Take Home folders today along with the spelling homework menu. A few student forgot folders at home. That is ok. Their spelling list will be loose in their backpack. Please put the list and menu in the folder and return the blue Take Home folder each day.  Spelling for this week will start with Lesson 2.  For homework students choose 1 spelling menu item to turn in by Friday. If students need more practice they are welcome to do what they need to prepare for the test. I have introduced the list and gone over the rule for the lesson 2 list. (vCe word patterns for the long vowel sounds -aka sneaky silent e) The spelling lists are also on my web site and I will add the homework menu as well. Please let me know if you have questions. It may take sometime to get routines down. We will work through it together.

Thank you,

Mrs. Walter

I hope you and your homes are safe and dry.  If students are experiencing cabin-fever they can get a head start on studying for their first spelling test.  The spelling lists are posted in the links on this website.  We will use Lesson 1 as a practice test and complete it together this week to practice spelling test routines. Students will be tested on Lesson 2 on Friday, September 8th.  This will allow us to keep on schedule with our spelling lists.
Also, Parent Orientation will be rescheduled.  I will let you know the new date as soon as I hear of it.  Take care!  I'm looking forward to getting back to school.
Mrs. Walter

We had a great turn out for Meet the Teacher!  It was wonderful to meet all the boys and girls and see how excited they are to start school.  I look forward to seeing them all on Tuesday.
Our lunch time is 10:58.
Please send 1 nutritious snack for our afternoon snack time.  Dry, easy to eat snacks are best as we work and snack at the same time.
Students may bring a water bottle to keep on their desk.  (Pop-top bottles work well for preventing spills.)
Supplies needed:
Please send in a pencil bag with a zipper open top for students to bring supplies between switch classes.
Students will need head phones to use with our class chromebooks.  Please label these with your child's name and send them in a gallon zip top bag for storage.
Enjoy your last summer days and I can't wait for Tuesday!
Thank you!
Mrs. Walter
